My baby is getting so big! I cannot believe all the amazing things she is doing already and what an incredible person she is becoming. She makes me smile daily, and her giggle is infectious. She is running - not just walking anymore - actually running. She says so many words in such an adorable voice. Some favorite words are "shoe" "sit" and "uh-oh". She still loves to say "dada" all the time, but "mama" is still not a regular favorite unless she actually needs me or is sad about something. I guess it's good that she wants me when she's sad. At 4:30 today she went and stood by the picture window knocking and waving at cars going by saying "dada, dada". She has learned the sounds for the letters: a,d,f,h,m,s,t and k (just yesterday). She still loves her leapfrog video and I accredit it with her ability to make individual sounds when asked, but her new friend Dora has moved into the #1 spot in the video lineup. She's not trying to speak Spanish yet, but she does say "Dora" and shove her DVD case into me when she wants to watch her movie (That is unless I'm paying attention, and then she'll just hand it to me).
She is eating regular food, but still totally prefers to be nursed. Lately, she has been hungry but not too interested in anything but milk - I think the poor kid is teething again. She has 10 teeth - 2 of which are molars. She has tried so many foods at this point - she loves pasta, cheerios, and crackers, but really she's happiest when eating Gerber (non-refrigerated) yogurt or bananas. She has eaten a few different types of fish, chicken, and some beef. She's mostly interested in dairy and complex carbohydrates; however, she does ask for fruit also. She hates anything cold and really doesn't like bland foods either. Recently, we have discovered that she really likes soups. It's the perfect time of year for that too!
Reading is still a favorite activity. She plays with all her toys, but when she's quiet she's usually reading. The slide and rocking horse she got for her birthday are both a big hit. She can climb up the ladder and go down the slide all by herself - yeah, it's a toy intended for 18 months and up. She also really enjoys being outside doing almost anything. Just walking up and down our front path or around in the yard is great fun for her. We got a Little Tikes swing that I hung from a tree in the front yard and she absolutely loves swinging in it! Lately she has been enjoying walking though the leaves and picking them up, carrying individual leaves around. She's so interested in the world around her. I enjoy watching the simplest of things bring her such joy.
Just thinking about her makes me smile, and I thank God everyday that Katelyn is MY daughter! I am so thankful to be blessed with the awesome responsibility of raising her. I love her so much. Even when we are working on life lessons like obedience I couldn't possibly love her more - Everyday I think I love her the most I am capable of ... but tomorrow will come and I'll love her even more then. She is my beautiful, special, blessing from God. I love you Katie!
